Get To Know Me

Hi, I'm Lindsay!

I live in beautiful North Vancouver B.C. and have worked as a Registered Nurse for over 10 years. My background includes a wide variety of nursing specialities including the Emergency Department. This experience provided a wide knowledge base that I am able to apply to all families I work with.

After having my daughter I experienced first hand the need for support, education and community to new and expecting families. Parenthood may be a natural journey but it sure wasn’t an easy one! I experienced many complications and challenges while trying to start a family including multiple pregnancy losses. After becoming a mom I soon learned that the challenges would continue with feeding and sleep and those very long fussy newborn nights.

I dove head first into learning everything I could about pregnancy and postpartum so I could be a much needed resource for families. My experiences have helped shape me into the nurse and parent I am today and I use this to provide the best possible support to families.

I truly believe that there is no one “right way” to be a parent and raise children. Judgment free, evidence based information is always my goal with families to help support their unique needs. There is so much information (an opinions) available  that it is easy to feel overwhelmed and confused on what the “right” thing is. I provide options, flexibility, empathy and compassion to everything I do.

My goal is to take the stress and guess work out. I support families from pregnancy up to preschool with all your needs. Let me help you find real solutions and provide YOU the tools to navigate challenges in the future. The one constant thing with children is that they are always changing!

I am looking forward to learning about you and your family.

Frequently Asked Questions

I get asked this one all the time.  As Registered Nurses, having merely one method does not align with how we were trained in utilizing the nursing process.

The Nursing Process is defined as, a “systematic approach to care using the fundamental principles of critical thinking, client-centered approaches to treatment, goal-oriented tasks, evidence-based practice (EDP) recommendations, and nursing intuition.  Holistic and scientific postulates are integrated to provide the basis for compassionate, quality-based care” (*1).

Simply put, I will assess your child using extensive nursing training to determine the best way to help your family reach their goals, walking beside you all the way.  You can choose with confidence, knowing you have picked the most qualified resource to support your family’s journey. There is no one “method” as support needs to meet your unique needs. I consider things such as parenting style, child’s age, temperament and how you view reassurance and support during the process. I then provide options on what you feel most comfortable with. We can move as quickly or slowly through this process based on your comfort level.

I am a specialty trained Registered Nurse and I use my nursing framework, assessment skills and knowledge with every family I work with. Also, as a lactation counsellor I am skilled in assessing feeding (breast/bottle/solids) with every consultation as feeding and sleep are intertwined and we cannot address one without the other. On top of that I am assessing your baby’s development, weight, and sleep space to address the whole picture to help you meet your goals. This is not a cookie cutter sleep method!

Yes.  As a Registered Nurse, I have years of training on where to access credible guidelines and information. All of our programming is based on extensive research from credible sources. The information is also updating as new research emerges. It is important you are provided with the most recent information to make informed decisions.

As Registered Nurses, it is our professional obligation to manage client records and confidential information properly.  We use an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) that is compliant throughout North America.  Even though we share the same brand, we are all independent Registered Nurses with our own private practices. As such, we each have our own EMR that is private and secure. We do not share EMR or client information between one another without consent.

Often they are — the answer largely depends on where you live and what your private insurance/extended health benefits covers.  For example, our services may be covered under ‘Lactation’, ‘Registered Nurse Support’ or ‘Health Spending Accounts’.  If you are looking for coverage information I recommend contacting your insurance plan provider directly for details as we do not direct bill to health plans.

Good question!  We are called The Mama Coach because years ago, when The Mama Coach founder’s first boy was very small, she often wondered out loud to herself, “Where is my Mama Coach?” and “I need a Mama Coach!”.  She searched and searched for qualified support and realized there was a need for qualified support for new families. We recognize that our name can give the impression that we only serve moms, but we will continue to work and learn to ensure our messaging is clear that all people are welcome here. Parents carry a heavy load, and do it with grace.  All parents deserve support, and The Mama Coach is the answer you’ve been searching for.

We do not just support moms — we help ALL people.  All are welcome here, and we are committed to providing you with quality support, no matter your gender or family dynamic.  As we learned in nursing school, your family is who YOU say they are.
